Science

Below is the Long Term Plan for science. We are currently working on Cycle A (2024-2025)

The Slaley Toad

Meet Gary the Slaley toad. During science, KS2 found a toad in the garden. The children enjoyed talking about toads and discussing the different habitats a toad might live in. When we came inside, the children classified the toad as a Common Toad.
Growing Sunflowers

In KS2 the children planted their own sunflower seeds and have been observing the growth of their own sunflowers. They observed their roots and began to discuss the important role of the roots, stem and leaves.
Science Week 2024

To celebrate Science Week 2024 the children in Years 2,3 and 4 took part in a STEM water filtration workshop. As part of our morning we explored where water comes from, the different uses we have for water and how clean water ends up in our homes.

The children especially enjoyed designing their own filtration device using a plastic bottle, sand, gravel, rice and cotton wool.
Exploring Sound!

As part of our new topic 'Sound' the children in Pine Class grouped different instruments based on their sound. We enjoyed playing the different instruments and explaining our reasoning.
