What have we been up to in Larch Class? (Nursery and Reception)

Larch Class (Nursery and Reception)
We have been reading the book The Enormous Turnip in Literacy. We enjoyed retelling and acting out the story.
We are taking part in the RSPB Big Bird Watch for schools. We have been using binoculars to spot birds, ticking them off on our charts, using identification guides to help us work out what they are, and making bird feeders to attract them to our garden.
Larch Class thoroughly enjoyed our trip to Newcastle City Centre and the Great North Museum. We went by coach to the city centre so we could walk down Northumberland Street and compare Newcastle City Centre to Slaley Village. There was so much traffic, buildings and people!

We walked to the Great North Museum: Hancock and explored the Living Planet and Natural Northumbria galleries using a game and a story bag we had borrowed from the museum.

We finished our visit with a workshop led by museum staff called 'Creatures Great and Small' where we had to listen carefully to clues to guess each animal. We did some animal yoga and interacted with skins and furs from real animals!

What a busy day! Thank you so much to our amazing parent helpers who made it possible.
